For Authors

Your Research. Your Voice. A Wider Audience.

Vox Dei Institute Press (VDIP) is a nonprofit Christian academic and educational publisher dedicated to helping authors bring meaningful works to publication while preserving their intellectual property rights and financial independence.

We welcome established scholars, emerging researchers, theologians, educators, independent authors, and Christian writers whose contributions advance Christian education, scholarship, and intellectual dialogue.

Our publishing vision embraces diverse Christian traditions and encourages responsible engagement across theological, cultural, and academic boundaries. Authors are not required to belong to a particular denomination or hold an academic appointment. Contributions from scholars of other religious or philosophical backgrounds may also be considered when they serve our educational mission.

Our commitment is to support authors, protect their rights, encourage responsible scholarship, and make valuable works accessible to a wider audience.

1. What We Publish

VDIP considers manuscripts that contribute to Christian education, theological understanding, apologetics, and interdisciplinary scholarship.

Our publishing interests include theology, biblical studies, philosophy, ethics, religious studies, history, science, psychology, education, and related disciplines.

We also consider biographies, memoirs, translations, literary works, and educational materials that meaningfully contribute to our institutional mission.

Our principal publishing categories include:

  • Books and Monographs: Academic research, theological studies, educational works, and mission-aligned literature.
  • Scholarly Articles: Original academic research published through our scholarly publications.
  • Edited Collections and Conference Proceedings: Contributions from multiple authors addressing significant academic and theological subjects.
  • Translations and Educational Resources: Works that broaden access to Christian scholarship and education.

2. Publishing Books with VDIP

Publishing Identity and ISBN

Books accepted for publication under the Vox Dei Institute Press imprint will receive an International Standard Book Number (ISBN) assigned by VDIP.

VDIP serves as the publisher of record for editions carrying its ISBNs. Each applicable edition or format, including hardcover, paperback, and electronic editions, will receive its own ISBN as required by ISBN standards.

ISBN assignment does not transfer copyright ownership to VDIP.

Copyright and Intellectual Property

Authors retain full copyright ownership of their original works.

Publishing through VDIP does not require authors to transfer their copyright to the Press.

Authors grant VDIP only the publication, distribution, identification, and promotional permissions specified in a written publishing agreement.

No additional reproduction, adaptation, translation, or redistribution may take place without appropriate authorization from the copyright holder, except where permitted by applicable law or an existing license.

Authors remain responsible for the originality of their manuscripts and for obtaining necessary permissions to use copyrighted material belonging to others.

Technical Assistance and Book Distribution

VDIP provides practical assistance to authors preparing their books for publication and distribution.

This may include guidance with manuscript preparation, publication formatting, ISBN information, and establishing publishing accounts with major distribution platforms, including:

  • Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP)
  • Google Play Books
  • Apple Books
  • Other appropriate publishing and distribution services

Publishing and distribution accounts will ordinarily be established and maintained in the author's name, subject to each platform's requirements.

Authors retain control of their accounts, banking information, tax information, pricing decisions, and sales records, consistent with applicable platform requirements and their publishing agreement.

VDIP provides technical assistance and guidance but does not guarantee acceptance by third-party distribution platforms or particular sales results.

Book Production and Editorial Expenses

Authors are financially responsible for preparing their books for publication.

Depending on the manuscript and publication format, expenses may include:

  • Manuscript editing, proofreading, and language corrections.
  • Interior page layout, typesetting, and formatting.
  • Book cover design and preparation.
  • Conversion to electronic publishing formats.
  • Additional agreed technical, production, or distribution services.

Authors may obtain these services independently or request assistance from VDIP in identifying suitable service providers.

All additional production or editorial expenses must be disclosed and approved by the author before the charges are incurred.

VDIP does not impose a royalty commission or percentage-based publishing fee on authors' book sales.

Book Sales and Author Royalties

All royalties and other payments due to authors from book sales belong to the authors.

Payments from Amazon, Google Play Books, Apple Books, or other distribution services will be directed to the author's designated account under the applicable platform arrangements.

Distribution platforms may deduct printing costs, commissions, service charges, taxes, or other applicable expenses before paying the author.

VDIP does not collect authors' royalties, retain a percentage of book sales, or receive financial compensation based on the commercial success of their books.

The Press's role is to facilitate responsible publication and distribution, not to participate in the author's publishing profits.

3. Publishing Scholarly Articles with VDIP

Academic and Editorial Evaluation

VDIP supports the publication of original scholarly articles contributing to Christian education, theological research, apologetics, and interdisciplinary academic inquiry.

Submitted manuscripts undergo preliminary editorial assessment and, when selected for scholarly publication, the applicable peer-review process.

Academic evaluation considers originality, methodological rigor, scholarly argumentation, supporting evidence, and the contribution of the research to its field.

For detailed information, please consult our Peer Review page.

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs)

Accepted scholarly articles published through VDIP will receive a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through the Press's designated registration arrangements.

A DOI provides a persistent scholarly identifier that facilitates citation, identification, and discovery of published research.

Online and Print Publication

Accepted scholarly articles will be made available through VDIP's online scholarly publications and website.

Selected articles may also be included in edited academic collections, conference proceedings, or printed scholarly volumes, subject to editorial selection and appropriate author permissions.

The author retains copyright unless a separate written agreement expressly provides otherwise.

Authors grant VDIP the permissions necessary to publish, maintain, and make their articles accessible. Any additional rights granted to readers for reuse or redistribution will be specified in the applicable publication license.

No Publication Charges for Scholarly Articles

VDIP does not charge authors for standard editorial assessment, peer review, DOI registration, or online publication of accepted scholarly articles.

These services are provided in support of the Press's nonprofit educational and academic mission.

VDIP does not sell individual scholarly articles, charge readers for access to them, or collect royalties from their online publication.

The Press's objective is to encourage the dissemination of scholarly research, support academic dialogue, and make valuable contributions accessible to the wider intellectual community.

Any separate arrangements involving printed collections or additional services will be disclosed and agreed upon in advance.

4. Author Rights and Responsibilities

VDIP seeks to maintain transparent, respectful, and professional relationships with its authors.

Before publication, the author and the Press will establish a written agreement outlining the responsibilities and permissions applicable to the proposed work.

Authors retain ownership of their intellectual property and are responsible for ensuring the originality, accuracy, and lawful use of materials included in their manuscripts.

Authors are also responsible for reviewing and approving the final manuscript and relevant publication details before release.

VDIP is responsible for fulfilling the publishing commitments it undertakes in the agreement and for maintaining its established editorial and publishing standards.

Any publication expenses requiring payment by the author will be identified and approved in advance.

Submission of a manuscript does not guarantee acceptance. Publication decisions are based on editorial suitability, academic or literary quality, and compatibility with the Press's authorized religious and educational mission.

5. Our Nonprofit Publishing Commitment

Vox Dei Institute Press operates according to a nonprofit publishing model centered on service, intellectual integrity, and the advancement of Christian education.

Unlike publishing arrangements in which a publisher receives a continuing percentage of an author's book royalties, VDIP's book-publishing model allows authors to retain their copyright and receive their publishing income directly.

For scholarly articles, VDIP provides editorial assessment, peer review, DOI registration, and online publication without charging authors.

The Press does not seek commercial profit from authors' book sales or scholarly articles.

Our purpose is to help meaningful works reach their intended audiences while encouraging scholarship, responsible intellectual inquiry, and constructive dialogue across Christian traditions and academic disciplines.

Authors retain their rights. Authors receive their book royalties. Scholarship advances through responsible nonprofit publishing.

6. How to Begin Publishing with VDIP

Prospective authors are invited to contact Vox Dei Institute Press with a book proposal or scholarly manuscript.

For an initial book inquiry, authors should provide:

  • Proposed title and subject.
  • Brief description or synopsis of the work.
  • Intended readership and educational contribution.
  • Approximate manuscript length and current stage of completion.
  • Brief author biography and relevant qualifications.

For scholarly articles, authors should consult the submission requirements applicable to the intended publication.
